The RMIFC is a regional centre operating 24/7. At the national level, the RMIFC adopts an inter-ministerial approach by involving representatives of the various national ministries working in the maritime field; while at the regional and possibly international level, it advocates cooperation between member states through the participation of regional and international liaison officers within the centre.
Regional Level
As the host state, the Malagasy government, through the CFIM, as the RMIFC’s hosting structure, oversees operations. A pool of informants made up of Regional Liaison Officers sent by each member state ensures permanent liaison with each state and provides maritime data at their level for the needs of the RMIFC. Liaison reports are governed by the Data Exchange and Sharing Memorandum of Understanding signed by each state at the IOC level.
