The RMIFC is a regional centre operating 24/7. At the national level, the RMIFC adopts an inter-ministerial approach by involving representatives of the various national ministries working in the maritime field; while at the regional and possibly international level, it advocates cooperation between member states through the participation of regional and international liaison officers within the centre.

Furthermore, the CRFIM’s sources of information also consist of organizations from the private sector, voluntary informants familiar with the circuit, the management and collection of data from the latter are ensured by the CFIM staff assigned to the CRFIM under the supervision of the Malagasy Regional Liaison Officer.
